It doesnt stack. For bare unarmed attacks if you're already a dex build, it just adds your strength bonus to it normal. If you're a strength build monk, it adds it twice. It is quite literally a damage and hit rate bump as long as you have a positive strength modifier. 14 strength 20 dex gets +2 from str and +5 from dex. the real issue on why panther is bad IMO isn't about the wildshapes themselves, it's tavern brawler. tavern brawler works with druid wildshapes and doubles strength modifiers effect on unarmed attacks, which is what all wildshape attacks are. the owlbear has 20 strength, the panther has 14. so tavern brawler gives the panther +2 to hit and +2 ...

Red isn’t going to contribute to the effectiveness of your character build at all. Orange Situationally good, but a below-average option otherwise. Green is a good option.
